Terms of use

By using UnitUtils you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Use of the site

UnitUtils is free to use for personal and business purposes. You may not use the site to break the law, to attempt to disrupt or overload it, or to scrape it in a way that harms its operation. Linking to any page is welcome.

Results are for information only

The converters aim to be accurate and the conversion code is tested, but results are provided for general information. They are not engineering, medical, legal, financial or other professional advice and they are not certified for any official purpose. Where a result matters, for example for a medication dose, a structural load, a legal limit or a contract, confirm it against the standard that applies to you or with a qualified professional, and check that the unit used here (for example a US or an imperial gallon) is the one you mean.

Conventions and limits

Each page names the units it uses and the constants behind them. In general, conversion factors are the exact legal or SI definitions where one exists, results are rounded to six significant digits unless you choose another precision, and months and years are shown only as labelled averages.

No warranty

The site and its converters are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UnitUtils and its operator are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site or its results. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Intellectual property

The site's design, text and code are protected by copyright. You may use the results of the converters freely. You may not copy the site's content wholesale and republish it as your own.

Advertising and third parties

The site displays advertising and may link to other websites. We do not control third-party content and are not responsible for it. See the privacy policy and cookie policy.

Changes

We may change these terms or the site at any time. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.
