How to convert kilograms to stones
Stones are used for body weight in the UK and Ireland. Enter kilograms and the converter shows stones as a decimal, and as stones and pounds underneath.
One stone is exactly 14 pounds, or 6.35029318 kg, so one kilogram is 0.157473044418 stones.
1 kilogram = 0.157473044418 stones
Formula: stones = kilograms × 0.157473044418
- Divide the number of kilograms by 6.35029318 (the size of one stone), or multiply by 0.157473044418.
- To write the answer as stones and pounds, keep the whole number of stones and multiply what is left over by 14. For example, 11 st 0.3 lb is the same weight as 70 kg = 11.0231 st.

Worked examples
A typical adult weight

A lighter weight

Things to keep in mind
- The stone is used for body weight in the UK and Ireland. Elsewhere, kilograms or pounds are the norm.
- Stones and pounds are written together (11 st 7 lb). A decimal like 11.5 st means 11 stone and half a stone, which is 7 pounds.
- A negative weight has no meaning, so the converter rejects it.
